Camp Cuyamaca

Greetings Cajon Park Families,

Attending 6th Grade Camp is a time-honored tradition here in Santee School District. At Cajon Park, we make it a huge priority to send all interested 6th graders up to Cuyamaca Outdoor School for their camp experience. This year, we will be going to camp the week of January 13 - 17, 2020. The cost of camp this year is $315.00 per student.

We expect a slight increase over the next coming years. In order to support families in offsetting the cost of camp, Cajon Park will provide a few voluntary fundraising opportunities for our students to raise the money themselves. All sales fundraisers for camp are offered to students in 4th-6th grade. Funds earned will be entered into our camp database which carries over year-to-year leading up to each child's camp visit. This means that starting in 4th grade, a student can earn money toward camp so that it could very well be paid off by the time they enter the 6th grade. Once fundraising money is earned, it cannot be cashed out or moved out of district. It can only be moved to another Santee school or to another student at our school (some families donate to others) with expressed written permission.

In addition to fundraisers, here are our other payment options:

1) Turn in cash to Ms. Tessa in the main office. She will give you a receipt and credit your camp account. (You can begin making payments starting in fourth grade).

2) Turn in a check (made out to Cajon Park School) to Ms. Tessa in the main office. She will give you a receipt and credit your camp account.

3) Use the link below to pay with credit card. There is a charge fee. The school district accepts payment then contacts the school site with the information so that we can credit student accounts.

Please do not hesitate to call us in the main office if you have any questions.

Regards,

Angelo Benedetto, Vice Principal

Monday, January 13, 2020 (The Departure)

  • Plan to arrive later than a normal day. Students going to camp should arrive between 8:15 and 8:30 to avoid morning traffic.
  • All student items will be kept in the parking lot area. Please be sure that bedding/sleeping bags are stored in a CLEARLY LABELLED BAG. The buses will load students at about 8:45 am. They will depart as soon as they are loaded. Bags will be loaded about 9:00 am and taken in a separate vehicle. (Parent help for loading is always appreciated!)
  • Be careful to pack essentials (like WARM clothing) and to avoid anything not needed or allowed at camp. Students will be responsible to carry their gear throughout the camp, so pack materials students can carry.

Friday, January 17, 2020 (The Great Return!)

  • Students depart camp late Friday morning. Buses are due to return between 11:30 am and 12:00 pm.
  • Students and their personal items can be picked up as soon as they arrive and have checked out with their respective teachers. We will be following normal pick up procedures which means, students will be released only to parents and individuals identified on their emergency cards. Please have a written note signed by a parent if you intend to have your child picked up by someone else. Again, students may leave school, but they must be signed out before leaving campus.
