Personal Bio

I have been teaching since 2000. This will be my tenth year teaching third grade. I also taught second grade for many years and also worked as a literacy support teacher as well as teaching EAK and first grade. I am also a former student of the Santee School District and attended Santana High School. After I graduated from UC Riverside with a degree in Human Development I moved back home to get my teaching credential at SDSU. In 2011 I received a Masters of Arts in Teaching from SDSU.

Outside of school I enjoy spending time with my husband, two daughters, and our dogs Toby and Ryder. We enjoy going to the beach, hiking, playing Pickleball, visiting the zoo and all the other amazing things San Diego has to offer. We also enjoy camping and have been fortunate enough to visit many National parks located in the western states in the last few years.  I loved Rocky Mountain National Park, but Yosemite is my most favorite!  My husband and I enjoy playing golf (when we can) and cheering on our volleyball player.

My Mission

My goal is to make my classroom a place where kids enjoy school and are excited to learn, are engaged in meaningful activities, and receive a well rounded education. I want to get to know each of my students as individuals and to guide each of them to achieve their very best. I will provide every student with the chance to grow socially, emotionally, and academically. I believe this can only happen with communication and cooperation between school and home. I look forward to working together this year.
